Winterschule: Neuronale Kodierung in sensorischen Systemen_image_170811

A major challenge for today’s systems neuroscience is to understand how populations of neurons process sensory information. This FENS-IBRO-Hertie winter school will bring together neuroscientists studying mechanisms of computation in different sensory systems and species ranging from invertebrates to vertebrates. The goal is to introduce an evolutionary perspective to neural coding. How did different organisms evolve to perceive their environment and how could this have given rise to different neural coding schemes? The course will emphasize similarities and differences in neural architectures between species and brain areas. In addition to experimental results, an important component of the school will be to present theoretical concepts.

The school is intended for advanced PhD students and post docs in neuroscience who already have a scientific record.
Up to 40 students will be accepted.
