National INCF Node (G-Node)

Since 2008, the BMBF supports the German Node of the "International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility" (INCF) in Munich as part of the National Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience, with a funding volume of about 2.3 million Euros in 2008 to 2012.

The German Neuroinformatics Node aims at fostering scientific collaboration between and amongst experimental and theoretical neuroscientists, both on a national and international scale. To this end, a set of coordinated activities are proposed that will improve three key areas: Data Access, Data Storage, and Data Analysis, together with supporting activities for Teaching and Training. To overcome a particularly severe gap, the Node will focus on electrophysiological data during the 5-year phase of this proposal.

The project will be carried out in close cooperation with the International Neuroinformatics Coordination Facility in Stockholm and also be supported through the host university of the Node, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. Based on its technical and scientific scope, the Node could play a substantial role for the National Network for Computational Neuroscience as well as for the German neuroscience community at large.
