For their work on the rehabilitation of chronic stroke patients with so-called brain-computer interfaces (BCI), the two Tübingen scientists Surjo R. Soekadar and Niels Birbaumer (both BFNT Freiburg-Tübingen and University of Tübingen) received the international BCI Research Award. With $ 3,000, the award is the best remunerated award in BCI research. It was presented in October at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in New Orleans.
