Fred Wolf receives funding from the Volkswagen Foundation

The Volkswagen Foundation funds Fred Wolf's project "On the way to a neurobiology of hybrid neuronal circuits" with 100,000 euros (January 2017).

Fred Wolf (BCCN Göttingen, MPI for Dynamics and Self-organization) prevailed with his proposal as one of 18 projects against 543 competing proposals in "Experiment!", a funding program of the Volkswagen Foundation. For his innovative enquiry, Wolf receives a subsidy sum of 100,000 euros over a term of 18 months. During this time, Wolf and his colleagues want to create networks of synthetic and living nerve cells in the laboratory, which can be connected according to plan. The "Experiment!" funding is aimed to projects, which can provide new fields of research and methods apart from the mainstream.
